Frequently asked questions
Why does Club IQ ask for "Always" location access?
To give you instant, accurate yardages the moment you pull your phone out of your pocket. Without background tracking, the GPS has to re‑acquire your position every time the app opens — that's slow and less accurate. With background access enabled, your position stays fresh throughout the round.
Club IQ does not record, store, or transmit your location data — ever. Your position is processed entirely on your device to calculate distances. Whether you're on the course or off it, no location is sent to our servers.
How do I set up my bag?
Open My Bag from the bottom navigation. For each club, enter the four values from a single representative shot:
- Ball speed (mph)
- Launch angle (degrees)
- Spin rate (rpm)
- Carry distance (yards)
All four values together are how Club IQ models your ball flight — the more accurate the inputs, the more accurate the club picks. If you don't have your numbers from a launch monitor, your local pro shop, club fitter, or any TrackMan/Foresight session can get them for you in a few minutes per club.
You can build multiple bag profiles (e.g. range vs. course, wet ball vs. dry) and switch between them from the simulator and caddy screens.
How do I download a golf course?
- From the main caddy screen, tap the course name in the top left.
- In the dialog that opens, type the course name into the search field.
- Tap your course from the results to download it.
Once downloaded, the course stays in your list on your phone — no re‑download needed for future rounds. You can switch between your downloaded courses from the same dialog any time.
How does the plays‑like distance work?
Club IQ runs a physics‑based simulation for each shot using your personalized ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and carry — then layers in live wind, temperature, altitude, and elevation change. The result is the actual carry distance the shot will play, not just the straight‑line GPS distance to the target.
The GPS distance seems off — what should I do?
Make sure Location Services is set to Always for Club IQ in iOS Settings, and that Precise Location is on. If you've recently flown or driven a long distance, give the GPS 30–60 seconds outside to settle. Restarting the app forces a fresh fix.
Can I use Club IQ without an internet connection?
Yes for course data once you've downloaded a course. Live weather and elevation lookups require a connection. If you're heading somewhere with spotty service, download your course before you arrive.
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 15 or newer. The barometer (used for the elevation model) is available on iPhone 6 and newer. Apple Watch support is in development.
How do I request a new course?
If a course doesn't appear in search, email us at ClubIQ@gacka-egr.com with the course name and city. We add courses on request and prioritize requests from active users.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings in the app, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile, saved clubs, and ball flight data. See our Privacy Policy for details on what's removed.
